First and Second Fledglings sessions take place in the main hall.
Please bring training shoes and a non fizzy drink.

Third Fledglings sessions take place outside on grass therefore football boots, shin pads and a shower proof top would be advisable in case of light showers.

Should weather conditions be so adverse, we will move the session indoors therefore please come prepared with training shoes as alternative footwear.

Each class consists of 45 minutes and the sessions consist of the following:

Warm up:
- develops good habits
- awareness of their bodies
- develops general motor skills
- starts with sitting stretches and progresses to mobile stretching
- one movement game that develops motor skills, attention & awareness, colour recognition, numeracy
- games feature travelling to various points on command, changing direction, collecting and sorting colours, and/or team play
- all running activities are directional and there is no physical contact between the children.

Technical ball skills
- introducing basic ball control and kicking development
- each child has a ball and the coach instructs them in a variety of games that involve actions such as balancing, striking and dribbling
- balancing with one foot on the ball
- learning to travel with the ball in a variety of directions and speeds
- these activities can vary weekly focussing on different developmental themes including colours, numbers, balance, co-ordination
- weekly change of focus ensures the children's interest levels are maintained

Penalty shoot out practice
- promotes ball skills and co-ordination
- introduces the children to the fact they have to wait their turn to kick the ball
- progression of the difficulty of the goals and obstacles

Colour recognition game
- introduction of colour sorting for the youngest age group

Parachute
- a fun way to end the session and alternative to cool-down session

Cool down session
- ensuring the child's muscles return to a relaxed state
- similar to those exercises at the beginning of the session

5 - 7 years
At this age, children love to score goals and play mini games.

As these sessions are outside (weather permitting), it gives the children the opportunity to learn a skill and put it into practice on a grass pitch. For children who wish to build their physical and social skills, teamwork and communication are vital areas; as much as the football itself. It is also important to learn that winning is great but it is also good to learn how to react when losing. Our focus is teaching the children how to perform a skill and when to use it.

Technical drills:
Passing - short and long
Trapping
Running with the ball
Turning with the ball
Taking players on
Ball protection (shielding)
Shooting
Goalkeeping
Attacking and defending
Mini Games
Cool down

If the weather is not good we will conduct ball skills activities inside.
